Overcast App Reviews

Falling down ...

Update April 2106: maybe its the feed, maybe its the player. Ultimately it leads me to a suboptimal experience. More and more regularly I am getting duplicates or repeats. The sorting is dodgey, and the overall design is still good, but its time for a change for me. Wish it was still paid and updating regularly. I didnt want to spend the IAP but I but the bullet and did. The effects tab is what makes this podcast player what it is. The whole presentation is simple. Fast. Clean. Well done. Ive been through a few apps in the last including one of my favorites in the blackberry universe but Overcast is the current fave.

Good but not first choice

I desperately want this app to be my favorite podcast app. However, other apps have podcasts available sooner than this one. I dont understand why its 30 minutes later than other apps. Get the podcast quicker… And this will be my favorite app. Until then, you will be my second choice

Love it

Overcast is the best Podcast app Ive used. The in-app purchase is WELL worth the $5. Listening to podcasts without Smart Speed now seems quaint and a waste of time. Voice Boost is wonderful too. Ive been annoyed too many times by non-normalized volumes to go back to Apple Podcasts.

Refreshing simple!

Overcast did what iTunes COULD NOT do! In less than one minute, Overcast was setup and running perfectly

This app is way better than native app

I love the amount of options and control. This is a very well designed app.

Best podcast app ever!

Im never using another podcast app. Not sure what took me so long.

The Gold Standard of podcasting

Absolutely the best podcast app that you will find in the App Store. Also, such a classy act by Marco to promote other podcast apps. I had already purchased 4 of the five; I went ahead and purchased the other to show my support for Indy devs. Its so easy to be a patron of an app that is continuously updated. I love the new dark theme!

I hate to be that guy.

Love the app. The only app I get more use out of might be my rss reader. Keep up the great work!

Still the best...

Iteration after iteration, this remains the best podcast app. And bugs keep getting exterminated. Glad to provide patronage! (Original review): It only took one day to transfer all my podcast subscriptions and delete all my podcasts from Apples Podcast app. It does everything I need it too and it looks beautiful doing it. Im super cheap paying for apps, but I even send money for this one.

No Video Podcast Support

Overcast would be my podcast client of choice except it doesn’t support video podcasts. Many of the podcasts I subscribe to are video.

The Standard to Judge Other Podcasting Apps

This is the one. The ease of use. The amount of cool features. It is one of my most used apps on my iPad Pro and iPhone. This has helped me get my work done. Avoided conversations with those preventing to get my work done. And help me add more podcasts to create more work for me as I get inspired to get more work. Download this now. Radio has another nail in its metal studded coffin.

Responds to feedback. Frequent quality updates.

This app has consistently improved over time.

Excellent design, better than Apples app

Love it. So much easier to understand than Apples native podcasting app. Would highly recommend you get this.

Both Good and Better than Podcast App

the default podcast app is perfectly useable, ive used it for years-- but this is better. It has given me far more control of how much storage it uses. On top of that its on all platforms due to it being on a browser. I can pick up where i left off on a strangers iphone or kindle fire. Really whatever i can get my hands on in a pinch that has a web browser. Maybe a Palm Pre, but probably not. Anyway great app for a hundred other reasons too, try it out.

Syncing Has Never Worked

Overcast is a very good podcast app if you have only one iOS device. However, sync has never worked reliably. You press pause in Overcast, lock up your iPad at work, get in your car, open Overcast on your iPhone, and … nothing. The podcast plays from the beginning, not where you left off. Podcasts you finished or deleted on up your iPad are still on your iPhone. We live in a multi-device world. I suspect the average Overcast user has at least two iOS devices. The beauty of iOS is that you dont have to pay per user licenses. Apple encourages you to buy a device for each location you spend a lot of time. This beautiful multi-device world only works with sync.

Still the best, now even better

Ive bought every podcast app and used them extensively over the years but Overcast has retired my curiosity. Its amazing. This app is a well thought-out and well made. It makes it easy for me to enjoy and share podcasts in a way no other app ever has. Smart speed alone has saved me 120 hours of listening time (without destroying voices). This is by far my most used app.

Missing podcasts

This app doesnt have Slates Amicus. Why?

Way better than the rest

I love this app. Keeps my podcasts organized in an intuitive way. Updates current casts with little to no effort. I used the iTunes podcast app for years and was always dissatisfied by the buggy UI and the terrible organization. Went to Overcast and I havent been back since. Its way easier to find new podcasts on this app too. It gives you suggestions based on what youve already listened to (turns out Ive been missing a lot of quality ear wolf products). Anyway, ditch the crapple product and go to Overcast. Give it a chance and get used to the differences. You wont be disappointed.

Awesome Podcast App

Love the innovative Voice Boost and Smart Speed features. All around great app.

Best Podcast App

Ive been through several podcast apps over the years. Ive been using Overcast for a little over a year now. I used the freebie edition and eventually became a patron because I liked it so much. I use this app about as much as I use the Facebook app. Easy to use. Has great features. My favorites being auto-download and smart speed. Have fun and enjoy!
